I've done a little research and learned that my passenger doors un-latching or whatever is fairly common. Let'* just say I am not happy with people having to crawl in through the windows (which have already slowed down to a crawl) or through the drivers side.

SO! How big a job are we talking here to get these 2 suckers opening again? Can I bust out my manual and tear into the door myself OR how much would it cost to get em fixed.

I'm sure others have had these problems, so any advice/recommendations/help/free-love I can get would be greeeeeaaat, thanks.

my friend'* 88 SSE had all but the driver'* door fail on him. he fixed 2 of them somehow, but the rear right door still won't open.

i'll ask him what he did to fix it.

I have a 1990 SSE and when I bought it the 2 rear doors would not open and the passenger door would not lock, and the driver door had the lock seized. I was able to take the panels off (rear) with the door closed and played around with the mechanism and seen the they were starting to seize which would leave them locked. I moved the mechanism and was able to open the doors. I got them well lubricated and now they all work fine expet for the driver lock which needs to be replaced. It sounds like you need to take the door panels off and just lubricate the mechanism inside the door.
It'* not very hard to do, just take a look around and see how it works and what is moving, and make sure to get it all.

Update time. It took some muscle and time but I removed the front passenger door panel and can now get to the door mechanism. I've determined the problem to be the lock has seized and prevents me from opening the door. I don't think I can remove the lock without opening door, and can't open the door without fixing (removing) the lock. Catch22 = cry all night.

Any suggestions?

Are you talking about the lock itself (where the key goes) ? If so, you can remove the outside lock from the interior mechanism. If you look at the back of the lock, there should be a little C-clip on it (fi I remember correctly). You can remove the clip, the the rod should be able to be taken off the lock. I had to do the same on the driver door, but I did it a couple of months ago, so not sure if there is something else besides the clip. Once the clip and the rod is off, you can then unlock the door from the inside and the door should open.
