Fuel pump problem?
Hello to all,
This is my first post, what a great site! I have a 93 SLE and have been having the car stall when I do a tight right turn, when I get off the freeway. Its only when I 'm below 1/3 of a tank of fuel. The car starts cutting out and the low fuel alarm sounds. Then it stalls. I can always start it back up after that. I'm worried about my wife, not being able to control the car when it dies. Please help!

Same with my 93'. I think the sender is in a bad spot. Whenever I go uphill the gas gauge goes up and vise versa. Same with accelerating and braking. If i'm on a flat highway cruising it won't fluctuate at all. For me its the left turns.

the 92 and the early 93 had a problem with the baffling in the tank and the strainer pickup. The fuel just sloshed around and never gave an accurate reading unless going on a flat road

The baffles in the tank are falling apart, starving the pump from fuel. I have had this happen in my 1992 SE and 1994 SLE last year. Replaced tanks solved the problem. Sounds like it tired the pum out in the 1994 as Jay mentioned it is doing the same thing again, but when I switched tanks I got the new (new to me) one from a 1995.
I'd suggest getting a tank from a 1997-1999 if you don't want to spend the $150+ on a new one.

To repeat above, it is the baffles, I believe. Here'* why. If it were the bad strainer design of 92 and maybe early 93, the low fuel light wouldn't come on. I think your baffle is loose and bumps the level sensor when fuel is low. I suppose the strainer could have fallen off and screwed with the sensor, but it doesn't sound like it.

Thanks for all the replys 
I'll pull the tank down this weekend and check it out. They have a tank from a later model available locally and I have a new pump and strainer to install too. I will post the results after I get it done.
