Default Metal LIM Gaskets

I did a little searching but couldn't locate the part number for the new metal LIM gaskets. I've heard I can use an old part number at GM Parts Direct and they'll send the newest version, but I thought I would make double sure. Thanks!

What did the dealer sell you? Were the gaskets reinforced with metal around the bolt holes with plastic frames, or were the frames themselves metal? And, if they were metal frames, what did you have to pay for them?

We have heard of the metal frames, but have yet to see one, or learn how much they cost. It would be neat if someone could post a picture of these.

No word yet, but I sent an email to GM Parts Direct with my VIN # to see if this is true. Perhaps mkaake could also verify this change for us?

Would this work? These have the locating pins it looks like too. I just bought LIM gaskets from gmpartsdirect so we'll see what comes. I didn't find this until just now. I sort of wish I could go back... oh well. I thought I heard second gen GM LIM gaskets came with similar metal parts as these but we'll see. BTW, gmpart #89017400 as listed in Techinfo goes for $37.62 - shipped vs. these for $49.99 w/o shipping

The plastic gaskets on ZZP'* site look just like the most recent confirmed GM redesign. Those are currently on my car, and they do have metal rings to keep from being crushed. I'm not sure what the aluminum option from ZZP looks like.

Hopefully the gaskets you get from GMPD will be all metal in design to eliminate the possibility of the classic failures we always see around here.

Yeah I hope so too. When I do the full replacement I want it to be for good!
The way I understood those ZZP gaskets was the aluminum was pictured and the plastic one has different material for the bolt holes as it'* only a $5 difference. I would think switching more parts to metal would cost way more... IDK though.

Ok. I'm a little late with this but I found a piece of paper in my wallet that may help you out. I wrote 'Intake gasket part # 89017408'. I believe this is the part # for the metal ones.

I did a little Google action and found www.gm-parts-dealer.com... I searched their database for 89017408, and they say that part has been superceded by part #89017825. Doing more sleuthing now.

Isn't that the number that was found to be the metal ones? And it was a brand new number?
