Default HELP (Stumbling and Surging under power)

OK I have a 1992 Bonneville SSEi, the car runs great but while driving down the road, when I step on the gas to pass someone, it stumbles and surges likme it starving for fuel. What could cause this and how do I fix it.

Check your belt for the */C.

Tune up?

Fuel filter?

nope I did alot of things to the car before it was put on the road complete tune up, both belts were changed, all new fluids, new filters including fuel filter. the weird thing is is that it only stumbles at speeds above 30 form a dead start it doesnt have any problems burning the tires just at higher speeds are there any filters in the gas tank that could cause this what about the fuel pump i doubt it could cause it but im open to suggestions.

There'* a good hundred possibilities. The common ones:

O2 sensor
PCV valve
Plugs/wires/coils
Low alternator output causing low spark voltage
Low fuel pressure

How old is your O2?
How old is your PCV valve?
Have you checked your plugs, wires, and coils (procedure in Techinfo for the coils)?
What'* your alternator output at idle?
What'* your fuel pressure?
What'* your normal high boost reading? Is it consistent?

plugs and wires are all good as they were just changed and no carbon build up on any of them for i already checked that. it seems like its running to rich cause whe n i step on the gas itll start going but around 3,000 rpms the tach stays there and the bopost stays up it doesnt goin down like it normally would and the engine surges and acts like tis running out of gas with the whole going, dieing, then going then dieing, then going thing.

Check your plug wires with an ohmmeter. New doesn't mean much. We've seen bad out of the box.

Boost stays up? To WHAT? Can you answer the questions above?

We need more specifics related to the question I just asked you. Your symptoms, even those described in your latest reply could be at least DOZENS of causes.

not to bring up an old topic but mine is doing this. It stumbles in all gears under a steady acceleration but if I punch it, it won't do it. It will usually do it around 2300-2500RPMs, and it the needle just bounces up and down just a little bit.
Changed O2
I changed fuel filter,
The vaccum valve on the back of the intake manifold was leakin replaced it,
seafoamed the fuel system,
did a power balance test,
found some bad plug wires so changed them and plugs,
found a coil with a high secondary resistance so replaced that,
and I started to check the fuel pressure and got 40 PSI but then I saw my gauage was leakin a litttle so I don't know if that is real accurate
Im gonna check the pressure again tomarrow with different gauage but if it checks out im not sure where to go from there, I thought the EGR maybe or the TPS.
Any tips?

You should really start your own new topic. This is really old.
