Default Shock/Strut Problem

I replaced all for shocks in my 94 ssei bonnie with monroe reflex as recommended in these forums. They're great shocks...but I have a problem with one. I hear a bang when I go over bumps or uneven surfaces coming from the rear driver'* side. Any idea what it may be? Could it not be installed correctly, or maybe is not sitting right? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'll tell ya what it is. Your strut is not tightened all the way down on the mount. Either that or your mount is not tight on the strut tower. Easy enough fix.

As Sandrock mentions..it'* very possible something is loose. It'* also possible that one went bad. The easy way to tell is look at the strut for signs of leaking oil. If it'* bad, there will be no question, it'll be quite wet. If not.. it'* probably loose.

Did you get rear struts without ELC? Or were you lucky enough to find some old stock?

If everything is tight - check the mounts themselves. I had a few of the rear mounts that were used in the 90'* go bad.

The shocks do not have ELC. I thought the swaybar was only in the front...? I'm gonna print this up and show my mechanic...see what he finds. Thanks for all the replies!

The ELC is a very critical calcuated part of your FE2 suspension. Your spring rate is far too low now, and your loading is seriously critical.

Your handling is going to suffer greatly. Particularly in loss of control situations. Rear end squat on accelleration as well.

I suggest getting rid of those struts and replacing them with an ELC-compatible strut.

Thanks for the advice! Any idea on where to get a pair without going broke in the process? Thanks again!

Find your best price online for Monroe Sensatrac'* with ELC based on the Sensatrak part number listed in Techinfo.

Then sell your rear non-ELC reflexes to a member here with FE1 non-ELC suspension to offset the cost.
