Air Ride Not Working

My air ride is not working and I know the rear struts are still in good working condition. What isn't working is the hose going from the compressor to the air shock. I pulled both lines from the compressor this morning and the air is pushing out fine, but when I put the hoses back on the compressor and pulled the plug off the air shock and the hose doesn't blow out any air. Is there a clog in the line? I hate that the car sits a little low in the back and i like it raised,. Are there simple instructions so I can do this myself?

1993 SLE 01-03-2005 06:48 PM

there are instructions to adjust the ELC arm somewhere. I cna consult the FSM if you so desire

I think there's something in tech info about getting the rear to raise up from the track bar or some jazz.....seen it a while ago....

Is the diverter valve for the air inflator stuck? It is mounted in the trunk behind the rear seat at the bottom right.

Unplug the harness from the valve and turn on your inflator switch and the rear should raise a couple inches in about 2-4 min.

ssesc93 01-04-2005 09:43 AM

I dont have any buttons in my trunk for the inflator. I said that the air IS coming out the compressor, but, the lines must be clogged because I pulled the line out of the shock and didnt feel air coming out. (Not trying to sound rude) I am trying to figure out is it clogged or not. Everything under the hood is doing what its suppode to do. But from there to the rear, somehing isn't right.

1993 SLE, found anything yet?

1993 SLE 01-04-2005 03:59 PM

then only thing that it says is to check for the compressor operation. and you said that that is ok. when you have weight in the back of the car does it raise?? or is the car just sitting to low?? does the ELC work at all??

I think that there might be a clog in the line. the lines are 1/8 dia.

The car sags to the back like i have 3 kids back there. I can still see the top of the rear tires but it doesnt look like this. This is the look I am looking for, the correct working matter. Thats if I dont need the lines for new struts:

Now for the other car below. See how his sag but not too low. Thats how mine looks.

How do I get to this? What doo I need?

1993 SLE 01-04-2005 04:07 PM

I would imagine that if you have any connections with places that sell truck (Semi) parts contact them about 1/8 dia. air lines and see what you come up with

have u tried to adjust the sensor arm yet??

ssesc93 01-04-2005 04:10 PM

I don't know what or where the sensor arm is.

1993 SLE 01-04-2005 04:12 PM

It is on the back right suspension. It is what tells the car when to raise or lower the car.

I will get a write up on how to adjust

1993 SLE 01-04-2005 04:37 PM

you owe big time for this

Height sensor operational check

turn ignition Off then on to reset the sensor timer circuts
disconnect the sensor arm
check that the wiring is securely connected to the sensor, and the harness ground wire is connected
Move the actuating arm up, there should be a 7-10 sec delay before the compressor starts and the struts start to inflate. As soon as the struts fill stop the compressor by moving the arm down
Move the actuating arm down below a postion where the compressor stopped, there should be a 7-10 sec delay before the the struts start to deflate and the vehicle lowers

1993 SLE 01-04-2005 04:38 PM

Height sensor adjustment

park vehicle on level floor
check the following
tire inflation pressures
fuel level in tank, tnak should be near full
no load should be in the vehicle
place front seats in rear position
turn ignition to ON to activete the system
bounce the rear of the vehicle three times to normalize the suspension

loosen the lock blot that clamps the metal actuating arm to the plastic actuatuing arm. To raise the height, move the plastic arm upward, to lower the height move it down ward.
tighten the lock bolt

Does the car have to be jacked up for this procedure?

ssesc93 01-04-2005 04:54 PM

Thanx for the help

to check the operation you could but for the adjustment the car it should be on the ground

ssesc93 01-04-2005 06:33 PM

No Success!!!!!

What is that thing.......oh yeah, the sensor arm. I can't find that thing. Are you sure this is for the ELC and not the CCR? only thing I saw on the rear left wheel was the cord for the shock. Same for the other side. But that plug thingy, I checked that out the other day and no air comes out of it. THe sensor arm gotta be somewhere else.

1993 SLE 01-04-2005 06:39 PM

there is nothing for the CCR only the ELC.

try a search and jwikoff has pics somewhere on his are and what it looks like

willwren also adjusted the ELC when he put the new struts in

ssesc93 01-05-2005 07:01 AM

do i have to take the wheel off?

1993 SLE 01-05-2005 10:37 AM

no just craw under the car

 lol

did the struts at least fill or deflate?

ssesc93 01-06-2005 08:08 AM

no. i didnt know where anything was at when i did it. I have to find the sensor arm. We have 12-14 inches of snow and i will wait later to do anything now.

ssesc93 01-07-2005 09:45 AM

i guess i will just tae it to the shop.
