Air hoses for 9?-99 air compressor
 

This evening just after I took the pics I for some reason not known to me, I crawled under the back of the car near the right rear wheel. I started looking around and eyeballed the air compressor. All of the sudden I noticed the air hoses were really dried up. Started following them and found that two of them (one line comes out the bottom of compressor and goes to a T) were rotted and broken and therefor there was no air coming or going where they were supposed to. I then pulled out the razor blade and cut the remaining connection of (dry rotted on) and took the setup up to NAPA and got a new T and vacuum line ($1.75 for everything). Went back home and installed the setup. I have never heard the compressor kick in except for when I turn the accessory outlet on in the trunk. So I am wondering which fuse (and where -underdash or firewall) is the ELC fuse? I want to pull it and see if it does anything when I reinstall it. I also noticed the car does sag a little, but I haven't had any real load in the car yet that would be enough cause for the pump to kick in. I think I will find as much heavy iron as I can and put it in the trunk to see if that will get the compressor to kick in.
Anyhow, I also put this out here as a reminder for those who have air ride and the compressor is under the car behind the right wheel, to check the vacuum lines and replace them if they are rotten.

I just looked under the dash and on the firewall and dont see a fuse for the air compressor. I opened my trun and pushed the on button and dont hear anything. I think I used to though. Do you hear your compressor kick on when you push the ON button in the trunk? I thought my ass end used to be higher than it sits now maybe my compressor is bad?

The car has to be 'on' for the compressor to work as an inflator in the trunk.

In my 99 the ELC fuse is in the engine compartment in the MAXI FUSE area.

Strange story. Last summer about 6 months after I bought my car I noticed that my ELC was not working, the fuse was blown. I replaced the fuse and it blew instantly. I got under there and one of the air lines was rotted and broken at the connector nipple at the pump. I removed the pump and replaced all the lines. I then noticed that the nipple on the pump was jammed FULL of crap. I used a drill and cleared the lines. I connected it to a 12v source and the pump worked. I installed it all and put a new fuse in and BAM, it blew.

So I then tracked down a schematic. Had the electrical tech at work test all the relays, solenoids and so on. I then tore the WHOLE trunk apart and examined the harness starting at the back seat. All was fine until I got the the panel where the lock striker is. I remeved that and found the problem. Some nimrod put a screw right through the harness taking out the blue (?) wire causing a PERFECT short. I fixed this and it all now works like a champ. I think it left the factory like that.

Moral of the story, none. Just wanted to share.
