my Oil Pump went.... I need the best and easiest way not only to change it but to check the engine for damage... If I blew my engine I fear it'* the Death of my Bonnie...

The only way to be sure is to remove the valve covers so you can observe the valvetrain, and crank it through with a breaker bar on the harmonic balancer (trans in Neutral or you'll kill yourself).
That isn't the BEST way. The best way is to replace the pump, refill with oil, and start it up. You have to observe the pressure to see what'* really going on, and listen carefully to the engine.
How far did you drive, did it overheat, and any bad noises other than lifter clatter?

my car was running a little hot... I was in stop and go traffic in Downtown LA... I drove maybe a block... just enough to get it off the road... I heard a little bit of Griding... I'm not sure if it was the shutter... It was High pitched and sounds as if my engine was a trying little too hard...
