AC compressor/ serpentine questions
quick background:
the bearings in my AC compressor sound shot. It makes a fairly loud squeeling noise wether the AC is on or not. It's also time to replace my serpentine belt. ok, here's the trick, I don't have the money to dump into this car for a new ac compressor and such simply becuase its just not worth it. I'm willing to eliminate the AC completely from the car. I want to know if there is a new serpentine belt that i can get that would simply leave the AC out of the "loop". BTW, this is a 96 SE any info or reccomendations would be very much apreciated. |
I know it was possible on series I. Don't know if series II pullies are different, which might cause interference/poor belt wrap on other components by deleting the A/C path.
If no one else has a part number/size, take a string and wrap it tight around all pulleys along the normal path, except A/C............measure the string in inches and go to your favorite parts place and get a seprentine belt as close to the string measurement as possible. |
