Default 93 SE rough riding

My 93 has begun to have very poor suspension lately. I can feel every little pebble on the road and when traveling on the expressway around turns it feels like the rear-end is going to slide away!! Also when I brake I hear a shuddering noise in the front end. But, the steering wheel doesn't shimmy or shake during braking...I only hear the noise.

My first thought is that the struts need to be replaced. To my knowledge the struts are all original. However, is there anything else that could potentially be wrong? Anyone have any thoughts on the braking noise? Also, how tough is it to change all four struts?

Well that'* a LOADED question..but yes I would start with the struts since you state that they are original equipment....then go from there...

Push down on the front of the car next to one wheel. How many times does the car 'bounce'? Or does it come right up and stop? Do this to both sides.

What'* your mechanical background? Changing struts is no picnic, and requires a front end alignment when finshed. I'd plan on taking it in to be done if they are indeed bad. Are they leaking oil?

I have changed rear struts before on a 97 Cavalier. That wasn't too bad. I'll read up on the procedure and make a decision on if I'm going to bother with the Bonneville!

Thanks for the help.
