98 ssei rear struts

Hello. I am working on a 98 bonnie ssei and changed the rear air struts due to leaking. I know the electronic models are unavailable, so I replaced them with monroe sensatracs with new upper mounts. Now, the ELC is causing lights on the dash that weren't there before. I've done searching on this site pertaining to the ELC....with many dead links. Is it possible to replace the air struts with conventional struts AND turn off the dash lights?

Thank you for your help!

Jeff

or pull the fuse

What lights are you getting?

What electronics modules can't you get anymore?

If you've gutted out the compressor and the ELC, you probably have to fool the harness that those devices are still there. No need to pull a fuse or tear the dash out to pull a bulb out.

Hi Jeff...

Lemme do a little clarifying to keep things straighter for my future sanity and ease of answering.

ELC is electronic leveling control. This is the air compressor that levels the back end of the car automatically by adding air to the struts.

CCR is computer command ride or something similar to that. It relates to the touring ride and performance ride buttons by the shifter that some of us have.

When the struts are changed from CCR (which always have ELC built into them) to ELC only replacements the lights next to the shifter for both buttons light up. Monroe used to have their instructions with the struts and also on their website. These days it's tough to find them at either location. The way to disable the CCR lights is to unbolt the driver seat an lean it back. Reach under the carpet and unplug the CCR module that is located directly under the middle of the seat.

ELC has no lights to give us a hard time. If the ELC compressor fails, I'd suggest picking up the Monroe airline kit and simply rerunning the lines to the valve in the trunk and filling on your own as needed. This way you can maintain good ride height and have the ability to add air if needed when you fill the trunk with bodies.
