Default N/A to Supercharged

How hard would it be to install a supercharged 3.8. I have access to a motor and everything that is needed as far as parts.

Anyone done this and have any pointers or suggestions?

Which year do you have? Which donor motor are you looking at?

Engine wiring harness, PCM, trans (but not always), etc.

It can and has been done. The full swap is the only way to do it. As stated already, you really need to tell us what you have right now, and where the donor motor came from.

www.L67swap.com is a companion/sister site for us sortof.....I still cruise around over there from time to time. These guys swap L67'* into fieros, cavaliers, etc.

It'* entirely possible to swap it over. You'll need the folowing items to do a minimum conversion. This is strictly on a series I standpoint. Series II cannot add on due to higher compression ratio. This won't be bombproof, but you can run it, and it should last as long as you run the right gas, etc.

From a 92-95 L67...
Supercharger
Lower Intake manifold
Fuel Rail
Fuel Injectors
Fuel Pressure regulator
Pulley/accessory drive system.
New belt
Power steering pump
SSEi PCM, with a custom EPROM (www.gmtuners.com is one) for the new fuel tables, boost, and the different gear ratio.
This wiring to hookup the BCS and MAP to the PCM http://www.zzperformance.com/zzp/pro...7_swap_kit.htm

and some 91+ octane gas. I'd recommend higher at first, just to make sure you don't run into knock. Stock boost should work, I would not recomend going to a smaller SC pulley though. The L27 heads are dished justl ike the L67, they're just not up to it as much.

Your tranny will be fine going this route. The only reason this will not work for someone is if they beat on their car, and it would fail with heavier stuff anyways.

This is the worst of the ideas. A full conversion (doing it right) is best if you're going to invest the time and money. There are alot more differnces than just the items listed by Jason. Halfshafts, bottom end, differential, even the suspension is a major factor with the higher powers of the L67.

I never said it was all of the differences. Yes the tranny is different, and the suspension. But this isn't about that at all. If you want to supercharge your car you can do it just fine. Keep in mind there'* only 15lb/ft difference between a 1993 L27 and a 1993 L67. I if the 4t-60e can't handle that, then i'll be needing one with the next engine modification.

If you want to supercharge an L27, yes it'* possisble, it hasn't been done, but that'* a start. No one knows how good or bad the reliability is, and frankly i don't think anyone can knock it, until it'* done.

Suspension isn't a major factor in supercharging a car. With the base FE1 setup i can pull 2.2 60'* all day long with intake and exhaust.

Jason, until it'* proven, I'm not going to be happy with anyone new attempting it. Let'* talk about what we KNOW is possible.

Well, enough arguing. I've already rented out the local auditorium and have a couple of gladiator outfits on loan from the local museum. So get over there... oh, and the winner gets half the proceeds of the ticket sales, so there'* an incentive for winning right there...

We'll see whose idea is best... we'll see... =p
