Popping under left front end
Hey, anyone have suggestions to the cause of a pop sound under the left front end. I pops whenyou start off especially turning left. The ride is not bothered at all. Smooth without vibration. I've had it looked at in a garage without solving the problem. Would the left ball joint ake that pop, and how do you check it?

Have a friend turn the wheel back and forth while you watch all the joints move. You should see something jump a little if it binds up and pops. Also try jacking up the front end and try moving the wheel by hand. Turn it, pull top and bottom, left and right, in and out. Look for any play and trace it back to what'* causing it.

My car makes the same noise; unfortunately, I have a few suspension problems
Bad motor mounts
"severely" bad ball joint
Bad front tie rod [Just had the left replaced ]
I figure any of those could cause some type of clicking noise..
Not to mention the subframe is welded back on; I figure that'* not what'* causing your problem but it might be causing mine. Haha.
Anyway, I suspect the ball joint, since I can kind of feel the click when I turn. Also, if I floor it uphill, I get a little kind of grinding sound from the wheel. My Dad'* cutlass had a similar sound all the time when his ball joints went bad.

Check all six bolts for the engine cradle. There would have to be more than one of those loose for it to be shifting. Heads are 18mm if I remember correctly.
Also check for dry rot with the rubber part of the cradle mounts.
