Fuel line splice
shop said they wouldn't be willing to splice in a new fuel line going to my fuel filter. My old school mind says cut out a foot or two and connect the new line piece to the old one with a gas rated rubber hose and O' ring clamps. The shop guy says there is 40 lbs. pressure on the line and it would leak . Do I really have to replace the whole line from the motor to the filter? All the lines down there are rusted pretty good in that small vertical spot in front of the rear tire.

If anything, use HIGH pressure compression fittings. I used standard ones by accident on my '94 Century, and it blew off shortly after fixing it. Scared the crap out of me.
Also, splicing in a rubber hose is never a good idea. Overtime the rubber will crack and expand, and bust open.

i spliced a new rubber hose in to mine right under my passenger side door. I havent had any problems. But should i change the whole line? And all my fuel lines are rubber from fuel filter to the tank. I dont think it came like that.

personally, the only time i would splice with a piece of rubber hose would be if it were a very temporary fix until i can get to a shop etc. but thats jmo.
