Default 1999 SSEi with misfire/black smoke

Heres what it is doing. When I was merging with traffic last friday I had to 'get on it', meaning I went to about 2/3s down just enough to downshift and take the boost to 5psi. The car massivly misfired and just pinged like a ****. Then I looked in the mirror and swore I was driving a old GM Diesel, just black smoke all over. The temp gauge was at about what lookes like 160, the large line between 100 and 200.

It did this one other time back in september when I was focking around with a friend that has a Monte SS, I punched it from 30 and just misfires a smoke. These are the only two times it has done it.

No codes, new Delco Iridiums in Aug 03, new fuel filter at same time. Stock wires. Im stumped.

You might start by checking the gaps of the plugs. If they are discolored much change them.
Otherwise, I am stumped myself. My bet is there is either a fouled plug or two or a couple pllugs that are gapped wrong.

The smoke does not suprise me at all, as these cars run VERY rich from the factory, and rich = black smoke. However, the misfiring and pinging is either in the plugs or the gas. What kind of gas do you put in it? What do the plugs look like? What is the plug gap?

All other times the car runs great. The exhaust tips have slight carbon build up on them, but all 3800 cars do. The gap was checked when they were installed and set to factory spec. I run Sonoco, Mobil or Hess 93 in my SSEi. That week it was Sonoco.
