Looking to get a scan tool
Hi everyone,
I'm new here, i have a 95 SE giving me some stalling problems. I'm looking to get a scan tool so I can check it out but seem to be a little lost about what i need to look for in a scanner.

The 95 Bonnie requires a scantool Capeable of reading the 95 OBD1 compliant GM cars, but it uses the OBD2 codes and OBD2 16 pin connector...
I would tell you to get a Actron CP9110 scantool( they don't make them anymore but there are still some around ) The only problem tho is that the OBD2 cable CP9115 is very hard to come across... You'd be hard pressed to find one... I have this tool with the CP9115 cable... Had it for 4 years I think...
This year I bought a CP9145 that will scan GM, Ford, Chrysler, and any OBD2 compliant car or truck... I also have the 16 pin cable for it as well, but I have found that the 16 pin cable from the new tooll does not work for the old tool... strange I know...
The one I have now CP9145 I think ran around $260-$300....
Just hold out a while as I'm sure there will be more suggestions...

I would hesitate to recommend the CP9110. I just bought one and I cannot get it to communicate with my '95 SLE. I wonder about that cable that Don mentioned - Possibly Actron sent me the wrong one?
Don, does your CP9115 cable have OBD II 3.0 molded into the DLC end?
The tool works great with my '92 but it is the '95 that I need it for!

I believe that the 1.0 cablw will work with the CP9145 scantool tho... I'll have to look into that later...
