Default oil pressure or tranny?

so here'* the deal..i was driving home today with the cruise control on when i felt the car riding rough..I looked at the gauges and the rpm'* were up at 6k(no speed increase)...so i tapped the brake and it went down...then repeated the same problem after resetting the cruise control...I looked over and the oil pressure gauge was sitting just above the red(usually sits on 40) and the temp gauge showed just a bit higher than normal....and it stayed like this for another 15 miles until i got home...the oil level is fine(right in the middle of the crosshatch on the dipstick)...haven't checked the tranny fluid yet but i'm assuming that its fine seeing how I just had it serviced a couple months back..i'm going to check that after i let it cool off for a bit..

I would at first think the trans was just slipping..but i dont understand why that would cause my oil pressure to act funny unless maybe the engine heated up from being rev'd like it was and the oil thinned out thus causing the pressure to drop?
