Default 1994 Park Ave. Problems

I've done some searching on start and stall issues and read some stuff but I'm still not able to find the information I'm looking for.

I've had this 1994 Park Ave. Ultra for about a month now. It has ran great, even took it on a 300mile trip and it did fine. The CEL was on all the time when I first got it but for the past couple of days it comes on and off but stays off more than on. Then today.....i was driving along and its like you put in neutral, I could give it gas but it wouldnt rev up and then a second later bam i had throttle response again. It would not react to any pedel movement or anything almost like it lost ALL fuel pressure but then like i said it came back like 2 seconds later. Well it done this about 2-3 times while driving around but the last time it didnt come back. The car didnt die or anything the rpms dropped to about idle speed, it sputtered, but I again lost all throttle repsonse, you can hit the pedel and it does nothing. I coasted into a parking lot and put it in park and it sat there for a sec spitting and spurting and then it died. I started it back up, it sputtered and died again. Had to get it towed home. Now it wont start at all. Just turns over constantly. I changed the fuel filter that i've been meaning to do but that didnt help. I tested for pressure at the rail not with a guage but just by pushing the little pin in on the rail and there wasnt much at all and it should squirt out pretty good right?

Any ideas??

It would help if you get the car scanned for what code is being thrown, and yes...I'd think the fuel should shoot out stronger than that.

Check all the fuses & check for spark at all three front cylinders. It should have fuses on the driver & passenger side. Was the key in the run position when you checked the fuel pressure?

The car was being cranked when i checked the pressure at the rail. I also got under the car to listen for the pump while cranking the car to and it was working just fine from the sound of it.

I went to Autozone and they cant pull the codes said that it was ODB1 with a ODB2 connector. This is my first GM vehicle and i'm not real familiar with the different computer setups for the different years and what it takes to pull the codes on them.

It'* best to check for fuel pressure with a gauge. They cost around $40.00. If you don't want to send the $ on a gauge you could try a new fuel filter first. Make sure you're getting spark so we can rule that out. You can also check for fuel injector pulse with a #194 light bulb.

Edit- See if there'* gasoline in the vacuum line going to the fuel pressure regulator. If so replace the regulator.

I changed the filter yesterday. All the fuses appear to be intact. Can i use a test light on the injectors or should i worry about shorting out the system like i did on a previous car?

Oh and there is no fuel in the vacum line for the regulator.

I had a similar problem with my car as well.. I would try to start it and then maybe 3-7 seconds later it would just stall out. I was checking all the fuses and relays and everything worked fine. My fuel pump SOUNDED like it was running. Since no one could figure it out and since I just replaced the hanger(sending unit) from my gas tank, the only thing we could think of was the fuel pump.. Once I replaced that it ran perfectly again. You should check the pump because mine sounded like it was running and we all heard it running but for some reason it wasn't working properly.

I also tried to run codes on it and unfortunatly I cannot remember what they read. I don't think they gave me anything though.. I'm not sure. Sorry.

A guy that lived down the street from me has a v6 Mustang that was doing the excact same thing as mine. His pump also sounded like it was working fine but he replaced it anyway and the car ran perfect after that. I'm gonna do some more testing before I replace the pump but it sounds like to me that it may be my problem. Does anyone make high flow pumps for these cars in case i replace it?

Well the car has been taken to a local shop. I could not get the car to start. Very low fuel pressure out of the valve on the rail. I didnt test with a guage but by pushing the valve in with a knife and the fuel just seeped out. Will know more soon. Also this may not be the the spot to post this so forgive me if its not.

My wifes 98 Civic Ex has a leaking oil pan. I've already priced the gasket. Is this a hard job and/or any ideas of a estimate to get it fixed. We are taking the car to Tunica, MS on the 27th and we need to get it fixed ASAP.
