I dont know if this is the right place for this, but it has to do with my new supercharger mod, so I thought I would post it here. If needed, moderators you can move this. Anyhow, I was wondering how you find out if you are gettin KR or not. I am taking my car to a guy to have it scanned as my Service Engine Soon light came on today for a small amount of time and my exhaust is rattling at like 1600 rpms. Anyhow, I recently was outran by a 1990 Probe GT (yes, I should be able to beat this thing STOCK!!!) Anyhow, its a four cylinder Turbo from the factory. All he has is an intake. I was just wondering if I could have been running some KR. Anyone have any idea? It was a very hott day. O and of course it was at a "closed track"!

I have a scan tool that I run while driving that will tell me. There is almost nighting that a mechanic can do with your car on a lift to tell you KR.

First of all, what new supercharger mod? Pulley? Something else? A smaller pulley may make you more sensitive to octane. If you're getting KR (and only a scantool can tell you as in the previous reply), you have to combat it by finding cooler air and/or higher octane fuel. Mine runs only on 92 minimum now.
Your SES light will not be about KR. It doesn't set a light. I'd suspect with a rattle like that that your CAT is shot, killing your performance and making you run hot. And again, that'* not your SES light.
You can use the 'flash feature' to extract your own codes. Do it, and get back to us.

Ultimately, you need to get a scantool on the car to diagnose it, as Gordy stated.
Moving this to 92-99 for you......I don't think it has anything to do with your supercharger.

If the SES light came on and your getting stuttering at an rpm it may have been misfire related. Autozone has a service where they will read your codes for free and you can know for sure.

FYI: Turbo Probes are rated at 15.3 stock. If he had an intake, maybe 15.2. I wouldn't be shocked that he beat you, but then again you are nicely modded.

Alright, thanks. I am getting it scanned today. I hope that will help me. I also have an appointment for friday for the exhaust. I don't know if I am going to have him do the cat or not. Could I do it myself? Yes the mod I was talking about was the pulley. Anyhow, the exhaust guy wanted 160 for the cat installed. Doesnt that seem a little outrageous when I can buy a cat for 30 dollars on the interent?

Unless you can 100% guarantee that that $30 cat is EXACTLY what your car needs, then I would stay away.

Alright, I had it scanned today. Only to find I wasted 100 dollars because we have the flash feature. Anyhow, all of the codes were good. Really good he said. I still think my cat is shot so I have an appointment for that tomorrow. Thanks guys.
