Default Front brake lines

Well looks like my front brake lines on my 94 SSEi rotted out as there is fluid on the pavement and a spongey pedal. My rear lines were done last year. So any tips or things to watch out for when I attempt this? I'll be pulling off the wheels to check the calipers today sometime. I hope its only the lines. They are still original and the car sat for a year so I guess it'* time has come to overhaul the system anyways.

Pre-soak everything with PB Blaster a day or two in advance, and get line wrenches. They'll pay off quickly if the connections fight you.

Not to look stupid or anything, but what do line wrenches look like compared to regular ones? Obviously I don't have those in my tool box yet!

Think of a box-end wrench with a small slot cut out. So you get the benefit of multiple mating faces. Far better than an open-end wrench, and the slot allows you to get it over the line.

You don't damage connectors this way.

Well instead of going by "hear say" I decided to take a look myself at the fluid leak and low and behold it isn't the brake line...............in fact it'* anti-freeze pouring out from around the oil filter (at least that'* the location where the fluid is falling off) so I think it'* the water pump but I cant see anything looking at it from the top. There is a bit of a "banging noise" on startup so I'm still thinking water pump.

The starter was replaced only 5 days ago. I wonder if anything from that repair has anything to do with this problem (ie what they did (move) to get at the starter. I wasn't there when the job was done so I'm not sure what they did. Maybe it is just coincidence this has gone now. It'* my daughter driving the car now and she drives the hell out of it! (Lead foot).

Yup, that is a common drip area for a failing water pump. Happened on my neighbors Olds 98 L67, and was leaking in the same area.

Brian, I'd think that the starter is far enough removed to where they would have to go out of their way to damage something in the cooling system (short of the radiator.) With the noise, it could be the water pump. Pull the belt off and see if there is any noise while spinning it, or any looseness. Check the coolant connection from the LIM too. Those have been known to crack.
