Okay, first mistake (Haynes) To remove engine, remove bolts, lift engine. Thanks for the detail, guys.

What the heck is attached around the ps pump. It does not want to give up. Do I need to undo the 3 - 18mm bolts just above the oil pan on the firewall side or is there something else holding it to the tranny.

Also is there a 6th engine to tranny bolt hiding up under the tranny? I have five from the beltline at the front around the top to the back. I can't even see in there to see another. If it's there does it go engine side to tranny (opposite to the others).

Why didn't I just drop the cradle on the floor and pick up the pieces. I have to mention that working on the Fiero is easy as hell after experiencing this thing.

The bolt which is the snag is that last tranny to engine bolt. I know where it has to be, as I have a 2.8 block on the floor and the pattern is the same. It just seems that the axle housing is placed so that I can't see or feel where it is, let alone get the oomph to start it off. I'll admit that the fact that I'm fat :D and just have it on jack stands makes movement a little hard.

Walking away and giving myself a rest was probably a good thing. I'll have a second crack at it later. I'm used to just dropping my cradle on a dolly which makes for pretty easy access. I guess I should have done that with the Bonne, but I wanted the remainder still as a roller.

The last bolt that is hanging you up is above the steering knuckle. It's an 18 mm bolt and requires about 20" of extension. You can't see it, but with the long extension, you'll be able to get on the flats of the botls. Good luck...

If you still are working on that last bolt let me suggest another way. I just pulled the engine from my 92 SSEi and had the same problem. What I did was raise the car to allow access under it located the engine to transmission mount bolts that held it to the engine and removed them. There are three and you can get to them with a open end or box end wrench. hope this helps. This drove me crazy also.
