92 SSEi Oil Cooler Lines
 

im looking at buying a 92 SSEi, and the owner is around 700 miles from me. he says it needs the oil cooler lines replaced... how hard of a job is it??

im guessin hes talkin about the transmission lines that go to the radiator, i need to replace one of mine too on the 95. though i havent checked into it, but its probably gonna have to come from the dealer or gmpartsdirect.com

SSEi's also have OIL cooling lines going to the oil cooler. We have a 3-core radiator and an external trans cooler for Series 1.

Get confirmation on WHICH lines they are for certain. It's a driveway job on jackstands. Less than an hour.

its most likely the oil cooler as thats what he orignally discribed them as. im getting this car for under $1000. i can complain too much. i also wonder if that trans cooler line recall was done on it...

Do it to be safe. Buy oil and trans lines, do them both. I know trans are only $60 or so from the dealer.

pontiac wont do the recall on it if it hasnt been done already? god i had saturn do recalls on mine last sumemr that were never done and it was a 92 lol

The trans line recall has expired. There's no way to know if it's been done without running the VIN through a dealer.

List price is what to expect from a dealer. Plan ahead. They'll probably have to source the parts locally from a distant dealer for you.

Working on it wise..only thing I'd suggest is a nice set of line wrenches. In case the fittings decide to be stubborn, but usually they are easy.
