Default Motor mounts

I just replaced the front driver side motor mount, well I guess it'* a tranny mount. It'* kinds perplexing until you realize you need to unbolt the rear mount in order to lift the engine high enough to get the front mount out and the new one back in.

My old mount was completely seperated. The mount consists of to plates with hard rubber in between, with a shackle stud to hold it together if the rubber seperates. Well, mine was completely seperated and the shackle bolt was about to break.

That should reduce popping sounds.

Just replaced mine too. Didn't have to unbolt the rear mount though. Why did you?

Well, the two studs that stick out the bottom required the mount go up before it could go out, but the tranny was in the way. I couldn't get the engine up high enough to wiggle it out without undoing the rear mount from the subframe.

I removed the trans mount to subframe nuts first then supported the engine with a floor jack and chunk of 4x4 wood until the mount just lifted from the subframe. Then the three mount to trans bolts were removed. At this point, the mount can be tilted forward and lifted out at the same time. Elongated holes in the subframe allow this.

Nevertheless, It'* quite an improvement when replacing a broken mount. No more THUD upon acceleration.

Sounds like what I did, I just took a little longer...
