CLUNK. In both cars.

I'm not sure what you would use instead of the solenoid type actuator. You could use a linear actuator but then you would have to engineer limiting switches and other BS. I kinda like the clunk in my 93. The feel of the door cylinder is not very positive and the sound lets me know that it'* locked or unlocked.

Not a bad idea. It does resonate the sheet metal some. A chunk of Dynamat or peel-n-seal?

Well you could get rid of it and get a locking gas cap from Advance Auto for like 8 bucks like I did. Just an alternative, I got it because I go to college and I don't want these morons stealing my gas. Now that you bring that up though I'm glad I got it.

i think the noise is the lock it self and the metal its mounted on. ill have to look to seehow hard is it too take off and maybe some rubber washers under the mounting screws or bolt what ever hold its on.

here but

how hard would it be to add a gas door lock to a Vehicle that dosent have one. I mean that you would have tap into the door locks, get the lock, is the door the same, what else

If you're worried about it, get a locking cap. Not worth the effort, you may have to get behind the sheetmetal.

My jam is broken on my door.. but the lock still works, and mine too is a clunk. You can't hear it from the driver'* door when locking, but if I were standing by it, it is very obvious.

Not to be mean.. but if somebody wants your gas, they will get it. My jam broke at the dealer in '91 because some idiot didn't know it had a lock. Never was fixed. And I doubt he put a lot of effort into it either. Mine is just made of plastic..
