I was just looking threw the ATSM for the 4t60e transmission. From what I can see the accumulator is right next to the filter just like in the 4t65e. I've never taken a 4t60 apart, but from what I can see you should be able to add spacers the same way as the 4t65e. Let us talk about this a bit and see what we can come up with.

I have had mine apart on several occassions. Though never seen the 65. I was always under the impression that both the 60 and 65 were similiar in most aspects.

Anyway...

I'd like to mention I was pretty confused when you said this.

And while this is completely true that they look the same in many ways, there is something different. I've heard from professional trans builders that the shift kit is something that must be installed at the time of a rebuild. Maybe it'* because of the sloppy valve body or something else. Not sure.

The modulator is pretty quick and easy to do. It definately firms up the shifts.

Bill, I believe you are correct. When I was researching the topic yesterday, I had noticed some "correction" parts that replaced the valve body gaskets. Hence the reason the trans need to be completely apart.
On the Blazer'* 4L60-E, they do the same thing, and change out the accumulator to firm up and quicken shifts.

Now I wish I had kept that last 60-E from my car.

This may be the kit that requires a teardown, but I did see another one I believe from B&M that has replacement valve gaskets...

It would be good to know if we can simply add spacers to the accumulator on the 4t60e. If that'* the case, then the same DIY kit we have here for the 4t65 would work. We just need someone with a 4t60 willing to take a look.

On a 4T60E, the accumulator body is very similar to the 4T65E accumulator body and it is in the same place. You just have to drop the pan.

Sounds to me like adding spacers isn't a problem then.
