Default Stock SSEi Alarm System???

Ok tonight i had the windows open and i unlocked my car from outside and opened the door and an alarm came on and i freaked out cuz i had no idea my car had an alarm??? I tried it again and it worked. Is this a reliable alarm? i'm confused and happy since if this works i can save some money.

Stock. Works great. Most SSEi'* and some SSE'* got it. Even has tamper detection for the 3 lock cylinders. If someone uses a slide hammer to pull them, the alarm goes off, even before the door or trunk opens.

I found mine the hard way too. I was sittin in my car and I had locked the door with the remote. I then proceeded to open the door from the inside after the dash light went out. Alarm went off and I was pleasently suprised. It seems that anything that could trigger a dome light (except pulling up on the door handle) will set it off, or so it seems. Too bad it doesn't flash all the lights like aftermarket alarms do.

Um, haven't you noticed a blinking yellow light reading "SECURITY" on your dashboard? Goes to a solid light for 20 seconds after you lock the doors and close up the car? Maybe your bulb burned out...

You sure the '95 had no alarm? It'* pretty hard to set it off by mistake; i.e. since there'* no vibration sensor, only intrusion alarms, you only get the honk/flash song and dance if a specific series of events occur, such as unlocking the car using the inside buttons (e.g. breaking a window and reaching in), instead of via a key or keyless-entry remote. I don't think Pontiac puts the active blinking "Security" bulb in the dash if there'* nothing to back it up.

Jseabert next door has no alarm in his 93 SSE, but his security light is still there. I think the passkey system controls it on his car.

*slap* Oh, yeah; forgot about the PASSkey... I guess they could be using the light for that as well.
