Default Fuel pump pressure

I checked the pump pressure on my 94 SE today. Turn the key on to energize the pump and it shoots up to 45 lbs. Start car up and it goes to 35 lbs. Race the engine up and it bounces between 35 and 38 lbs. At idle it`* pretty much a sustained 35 lbs. I`m assuming it`* time for a new pump. Just wondering what kind of symptoms should accompany this type of pressure (35 lbs.) I know specs call for 41-47 lbs.

Drop your tank and remove the pump before you buy a new one. Chances are you have a clogged strainer. This could let the pump make full pressure with the engine off, but have low pressure with the engine running.

Theoretically, lower pressure will mean larger fuel droplets and less atomization. (less efficiency)

Yours actually doesn't sound that bad. What is it if at idle you pull the vacuum line off the FPR? How quickly does it bleed down after ignition on/no start?

I`m not near the car right now so I can`t check the FPR but bleed down was very quick.
