1998 SSEI plastic cladding question

Hey guys, this is kind of a silly question but I need some assistance. I have a 1998 SSEI. The long piece of plastic cladding that runs the length of the car under the doors cracked a bit a while back and a mechanic bolted it on for me. It started to fall off again yesterday at the rear of the car and I'm trying to figure out how to remount it if possible. I noticed a white plastic clip-like thing under the front door, however there are none under the rear door. I see holes where some may have been mounted before, but they are not there now. Should they be? If so, what are they called and where can I purchase them? Right now there is nothing under the rear door holding the cladding up. Or, could I run a bolt or rod into the hole to provide a support? Or something else?

Thanks!

There should be a plastic clip, it might have fallen off. If you can get inside the door panel you might find a bolt. If you want you could use some JB weld and glue it in place. Just make up a wad and push it in to place, then mushroom it over inside the door panel. That should hold good.

Thanks for the quick response.

Just to be sure, you're talking about doing this to the long piece of plastic that runs under the both of the doors from wheel to wheel, right? I was a bit confused when you mentioned getting inside the door panel.

Yes, that is the piece. Is there a hole in the panel where a bolt of clip would go in? Now that my coffee is kicking in, I think that was a plastic clip that went in that hole.

Yes, there are four holes in the frame where it looks like there should be at least one plastic clip holding something up. Perhaps a picture would help -- she's in desperate need of a wash, but I need to solve the cladding problem first. See attached.

As I mentioned there is a white plastic clip under the front door, but nothing here in the back actually holding the piece of trim up.

i can't find a picture of it but you can get it from GM for about $5 from what i am told they are one time use only

from the looks of it you may need a new rocker panel there me be damage to the hole where it mounts to

I see a bigger problem than the rocker cover. It looks like the whole rocker panel is rusted.
