Default PCM replacement fixed my 95 bonneville ssei stalling

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie here.

After having spent nearly $1000 at a local garage shop, I came here to look for ideas. I came across this thread http://bonnevilleclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=81320 which described similar symptoms. So I took a chance and replace my PCM with a rebuilt one and my problem is gone.

Originally, it all started one day when my car would start but stall-out roughly within few seconds. I had it towed to my local garage where a mechanic replaced MAF unit. I picked up my car and found out that MAF wasn't the problem. Had it re-towed and this time, ICM was replaced. The shop mechanic claimed it was fixed after 90 miles of "test driving". I questioned about test driving 90 miles and he said he wanted to make sure it was fixed.

I brought it home and next day, I found out it still had the problem. I went to auto-zone and pickup a rebuilt PCM and replaced it. Since then, I have been using it without problems.

So thanks for this forum and its participants.

I can attest. My '95 is on replacement PCM #3 since I bought it 30 months and 23,000 miles ago. The JY PCM only lasted about 6 months. The cheap reman (about $30) did not work at all. The Cardone rebuild (about $100) has been much better. (Knocking wood while crossing fingers!)

I like Jr's3800'* theory...

When travelling...bring a spare PCM because you never know when that 95 pcm is checking out.
