If you're trying to convert from R12, you need to evacuate, change the fittings, and put in new oil. If you just want more R134a in your already converted system, you can just put more in.

Do you have the original R-12 in there?

Just empty it out then pop in the r134a and oil should do fine. It can go in if there are just remnants of r12 tho.. so if you just have a lil bit in there dont worrie about it.
