While sitting here in sunny Florida waiting for hurricane Frances to come and clean me out of house home, I have a question about something more important. Does a bad cam sensor affect boost? I have a code for a bad cam sensor and ever since the SES light came on and kicked the code I seem to not have as much boost or power as I did before. When I hit the peddle the boost guage will show I should be gettin normal boost but it just does not feel like I have the same power.

It'll have no effect on boost. But it WILL retard your timing to a 'limp' value. That'* why you have no power.

Is this a easy fix? And what would average cost be?

Since I posted this problem my SES light has not come back on. Does this mean the sensor is functioning properly, or do I still have a problem. Should I get the sensor replaced even though there is no SES light? The original error was p0341. I would really like someone'* opion on this before I spend the money. Could the fault have been cause by a bad ground? I still don't think I have the same power but I don't know if it is just in my head because I know I had a p0341 code. My gas milage seems to be about the same, around 250 miles before I refill and even then I am not on dead empty.

ive replaced the cam sensor on a 3800 with mpi and its cheap, easy, and quick. it should be right next to your water pump.

I just finished installing a new Cam Sensor and Cam Sensor Magnet(Interrupter) in my Olds. However, I retrieved a Code 41 indicating it was the Cam Sensor Circuit.

I was surprised how relatively easy it was to able to install the new Sensor Magnet for the first(but hopefully last) time. You'll definitely know that you need to replace the Interrupter after you remove the Cam Sensor by just sticking your finger in the hole. If yours was like mine, most of it will be gone. It'* possible that you have just enougn of the Interrupter left that it'* not causing the SES light to come on. To get a better look at the condition of the Interrupter, use a small mirror when looking inside of the hole.

0341 is a ground problem with the ignition module....a cheap fix is to remove the ignition module,clean the surface of the trans and back of module,replace bolts and plug wires along with .040 gap plugs.clear code.. if light comes back on,replacement of ignition module is needed...
