1995 SE, Excessive Brake Pedal Travel
 

Yes I have a problem with my brake pedal when I depress it, the thing tries to go all the way to the floor and I have to use my foot to get it to come back up. Can someone please tell me what is going on with my car?

Sounds like a bad master cylinder.

Before jump right into that, check the vacuum lines between the power booster and intake manifold. Make sure it's not cracked, split, etc. If it is replace it.

Also look for fluid leaking on the car. Start it up and pump the brakes a few times. If the pedal doesn't pump up and continues going to the floor, look for fluid.

I'd think master cylinder, leaking wheel cylinder (back wheels) or a leaking brake line.

As a quick check to see if you have sprung a leak in one of your brake lines (which would cause your symptom) check the fluid levels in the master cylinder reservoir. If they are OK, as the others have suggested, you most likely need a new master cylinder. If the reservoir is low, or empty, you have a leak.

If you replace your own master cylinder, make sure to bench bleed it before you install it. Instructions and bleeder kit should come with the new/rebuilt cylinder.

Problem solved I replaced the Master Cylinder and now my problem is fixed.
