1994 SE motor swap.........
 

original motor - 1994 Bonneville
donor motor - 1994 LeSabre


I am actually swapping the motor as we speak. got the old one out, and the new one in. I was gonna use the harness that came with the new motor (since it was completely intact) until I realized that the new harness was short a couple prongs in the connector. so I decided to use my original harness. I am plugging everything and just realized that there is no low oil sensor in the oil pan. figures. I am extremely pressed for time and do not have time to switch the pans. my question is, will that be all I need to do?

I can't imagine why there would be no low oil sensor. oh well. It seems that the pan will come off pretty easy, so I plan on returning to this thing to do this at a later date, as long as I confirm with you guys that is all I need to do to solve the problem.

I don't have a low oil level sensor. It's nice but not really needed.

the donor motor also did not have what seems to be an upper intake temp sensor. fortunately, the manifold was predilled and just plugged so after removing the sonsor from the original motor, it fit nicely. :)

p.s. - his motor has about 75,000 tha tI am putting in. low oil sensor will be much appreciated. lol

ummmm, this might be a stupid question, but neither motors had exhaust manifold gaskets. what's that all about?

They didn't come with them from the factory. That might be the reason why a lot of the L27/ser1L67 exhaust manifolds crack.
It would be a good idea to thow them in now though.

well, she is running and driving. only the tranny will not kick down or downshift while driving. it will when you stop, but it doesn't hold gears long and overdrive is also not working.

there was a plug at the end of the tranny shaft where the cv axle connects on the passenger side. it did not get unplugged before jacking the motor out, so the plug ripped off. I replaced the pulg with one off the other harness. the wires ripped out at the plug, so I was not sure which wire was which when I put the other plug on. I figured that if it was backwards I could just switch them. I was under the impression that was for the speedo. the speedo works. but now I am thinking it has something to do with the tranny not kicking down.

I will have to switch the wires tomorrow. anyone know which plug I am talking about? it was a two wire plug.

Two wire plug sounds like the VSS (vehicle speed sensor). It was on the trans?

What's the speedo doing?

speedo works fine. that is what I Thought it was for. can't figure out why I lost overdrive though....... :(
