would it hurt to put in a fw17 instead of a fw2 option ratio?thank you.

FW17 isn't an RPO. Is this a typo?

FW2 is 3.06

2.83 would get you better fuel mileage, but you lose your get up and go like you get with the 3.06.

thanks for the reply...now being said if i were to get the other tranny would it set off any codes or have drivability problems?.if it does have a code issue wouldn't it be good to get the computer that was in the car i get the tranny from?. so i have a match on tranny and pcm.

Yes, if the PCM doesn't know about the different trans, it may throw a code about improper gear ratio. So yes, it would be better to grab the matching PCM.
