what RPM does your car have at 35mph?
i think theres something wrong with my car. it has been like this since i got it.
in my mom'* bonnie (92 SE) at 35 mph: car runs in 3rd at ~1500 RPM
in my bonnie (93 SSEi) at 35 (normal shift): in 2nd @ ~2000 RPM
and in (performance shift) in 3rd @ ~1500 RPM
now, i'm no genius, but in "normal shift" shouldnt the car run at a lower RPM for better milage? or is there a part on my car that is worn that won't allow it to shift. because i thought that in perform shift, it gets a firmer shift and maybe thats what is allowing it to "grab" the next gear. is there a part like a Clutch on automatics that wears out after a long time?
side note: at 45 mph in normal shift it will shift from 2nd to 3rd and then OD without stopping in 3rd. if i want to i can mauver the pedal and keep it in 3rd.
any help would be appreciated

This is a common problem with the 4t60E transmissions and a sign of things to come. A lot of them will slip in or out of OD on their own. The good thing is chances are this is a relatively cheap and easy fix. Maybe this will help: 4T60E transmissions may drop out of drive while cruising, shift erratically, or have no second, third, or fourth gear because of a bad ground connection for the shift solenoids.

Wealp see there inlies the problem...actually with what I know. Honestly I don't know. But fixing a ground problem is rarely a problem, usually just a cleaning and replacing so that should keep the costs down. Best bet is to get a Chiltons, I have one but my shop guy (as I so lovingly call him) is using it to work on mine. I think they would have info on it. Savor the flavor baby cause I never say "I don't know" haha j/k

93 SSEi, Wouldn't you have to take into consideration the inaccuracies of calibrations of the tachs between the 92 SE and your 93 SSEi? Also, the final drive ratios of both cars, are they the same? I'm not sure if that is a valid comparison between the SE & SSEi, I myself don't really know. Just throwing some extra info out there for you. You may have already thought of the things I've called out. Aside from the fact, you still may have problems with shift solenoids ground connections etc. Just my .02
