My Bonnie is shaking at speeds of 55 mph when i get to a certain speed i duno what causes it but it worries me like my tranny is slipping or something because the whole care shakes wha coule it be?

could be as simple as a bulge in a tire. or it may need an alignment, check your tires, are the wearing out on one side? Is there a bulge in any of them, If the answer is yes to any of those, id recomend new tires and an alignment, if your tires are fine id take the car in for a wheel balance and an alignment, generally thats all that causes the wobble at higher speeds...
For a test, get going down the road say 35-40 , let go of the wheel, does it pull left, right, or does it go straight?

Also the info you should put into your signature is
Year and the trim line (LE, SE, SLE, SSE, SSEi)

See if any of these work for you.

Could be a busted inner or outer tie rod. Try jacking up the car one corner at a time with the wheels / tires still on (usually, gone tie rods are felt worst when one of the front ones goes) and see if you can make the the wheel move by shaking it left to right. If you can without too much force then you might be llooking at tie rods .

Okay, at shake at 55mph or for us Canucks aboot 90kph or so is either unbalanced tires in the front if the shake is in the steering wheel (90 percent of the time it is), or a loose tie rod end or inner. Usually at about 110kph or 70mph is when the worst of the shaking is. If you go faster (not that I am condoning it or anything) does it shake more or go away? If it goes away it is probably the tires. When I put a car up on the hoist with those symptoms first thing I do is grab the front tires and give them a pull side to side. If it is tight then I pull the front tires and put them on the balancer. I have to tell you that 90-95 percent of the time it is the tires being out of balance. Steering wheel shakes are tires or tie rods. Shakes in the seat are usually rear wheel unbalance. Hope this helps Bubs!
