Is a new hood worth $300
while i was on the phone with the junkyard they said i could get a new hood for $300
it will have to painted and "may be a little messed up"
is it really worht it when a brand spankin new one (primer gray) is $550?

I'd call some other junkyards first and see what they quote you. You will definitely find one less than $300 because that is definitley ripping you off. If all else fails try finding one on ebay and it will be cheap like i dunno 50 bucks and then a shitload for shipping. If you buy one new it is guaranteed though so that is always nice.

Like Buzzbomber said, call around to other salvage yards--and don't be afraid to look them over for rust before you commit. The price largely depends on the scarsity. Good luck.
