supercharging a series 1

will a series 2 supercharger bolt on to a series 1 engine, i realize i may have operating problems w/ the ecm but i just want to know if it will bolt on in place of the upper intake. Just to let anyone know a stock 1990 bonneville runs a 17.4 @ 78.8 mph in the 1/4 mile. Thanks for any help.

I don't think so.
The engine isn't built to handle the boost, anyway, and the tranny certainly will not.
Your best bet, if you want a lot of power out of your Bonnie, is to find a wrecked GTP/GS/SSEi/Ultra and swap the powertrain out of it.

Nope you can't do it.
The non-SC motors use a different set of heads and intake then the SC motors do. The fuel injectors for a SC motor actually plug into the head and not the intake like they do in non-SC motors.
Thats just the first problem there are many others like wiring harness and valve train and compression issues.
A series two SC motor could be placed into an older bonnie but you need the motor and the trans and would probably want the axle shafts too. The trans and axle shafts in the non SC old bonnie are not strong enough to handle an SC motor.
go to the site. www.luminasupercharged.com and see a SC 3.8 that has been transplanted. If you can get one into a lumina you can definetly get one into an older bonnie.

A few choices for you:
#1 have an engine builder rebuild your stock series1 engine and get some real hp out of it. You could then while doing this buy the zzperformance SC kit for non-sc series II engines and hook it up. Now on the same engine you have around 300hp. next you will need to get a performance 4t60-e taking 300hp easy with . I can get you most of the items I have mentioned. I know of some people who are working on naturally aspirated performance and I will ask them what they could provide in regards to performance advise if you decide to build what you have.
#2 Swap in a new engine sc series II. Requires computer and trans. you might as well swap in a intense tranny and buy a blown series II engine and rebuild it to crazy hp specs. Once again I am in the process of making available a source for cheap but well backed used sc engines for swaps.
The biggest limitation for option #1 is the tranny is currently only built for 300 odd HP. I am working on that though. I plan on a 450hp 4t60-e HD transaxle unit. This way you can stick with your original engine.
Once I get more info I will let you know.

This is got to be THE MOST ASKED QUESTION! Well let'* assume you were talking about swapping a series II SC for a series I SC! That still isn't possibleas the engine itself used a different type of SC! Now if you were talking about swapping a SC to a NA engine well, that is even more not possible for the before mention reasons from the other member'* posts! :? Ty'* response does offer the BEST plan of action in my opinion (If that means anything, nowadays )
The swapped in Series II 3800 SC & 4T65-E trans will fit in a older style Bonneville though!
