Very Annoying Drivers Info Center
ok, it seems most of the time whenever i hit my brakes, the Drivers info center chimes as if theres a problem, but no problem lights up. this has always been a problem, but it is reoccuring more and more often now. it really got worse after i put a new alternator on... it doesnt matter if my headlamps are on, climate control, or radio... Could anybody help? this gets really annoying when driving!!!

Brake fluid level?? Just a guess...
|
lol, nope fluid is good...
|
What's your voltage level whenever it chimes? Don't use the gauge, use a multimeter or a scanner.
|
it doesnt do it when i am stopped, only when i am going...

Another idea would be to replace your brake lamps (All 4). Possibly one of them is starting to go bad and causing the lamp monitor to momentarily sense a bulb problem.
|
I had the same problem! :x
It turned out to be the contacts in one of the sockets was bad. So ended up replacing the socket. No problems since, almost two years :D |
well i'll fool around with those taillight sockets and bulbs... thanks a bunch!

Not sure about the 87-91, but the lamp monitor on my 93 doesn't require the lamps to be on to check them. If I have a taillamp out, simply turning on the car will tell me. I'm assuming it uses a 'tickle' voltage to check them.
This being the case, having it ding when you hit the brakes wouldn't be what I expected of a bad brake light bulb. |
My 89 Lamp Monitor would do the beep beep once whenever I turned on the headlamps. And if you watched, the headlamp out light would flash on and off momentarily.
