Vehicle speed sensor

Curious, does anyone know what the ppm (pulse per mile) of the 89 bonny is?
Also, Is the car governed? And at what speed?
Has anyone tried eliminating the Vss? what happens when you do?

For some reason 4000 ppm sticks in my mind..but I'm not positive.

W/O vss I suppose you wouldn't know how fast you are going...

VSS

Tried this once and car wouldn't Idle high enough.

Well if 4000 is the magic number that works out perfectly. Im doing the 3800 swap into my fiero, and the fieros speed sensor is 4000 ppm also...which means i dont have to worry about faking a signal, i can just splice into the fieros speed sensor wires (which are the ones going to the spedometer)
Thanks

I do know that the VSS in a 90 B'ville with the 440 trans was the same ppm as a 97 SC'd B'ville with the 4T65..

GM probably standardized it to keep programming easier.
