Default did the delco swap

Installed it and my car fired right back up, weird thing is though, my car is a 90 and I did not have to change the bracketry, the mount for the old Magnavox worked for the delco coils and icm. Also the icm that I had gotten is one that is missing a pin on the plugin, it works fine for me. I also heard this pin was a tach pin out, my tach still works fine. Other than that, the car starts much better and runs better now.

Hmmm can you take a pic of that? It'* interesting you were able to use the old bracket.

On the pin.. gosh..I forget what Jr'* told me it was for..but the newer one is typically the way to go, because it'* 100% backwards compatible.

Is this a problem that all 87s-91s owners should think about handling early before problems arise

Well I would definately say to replace them, my car starts, idles, runs better, and takes off a little better. I would never want to go back to the Magnavox coils. Ever.

yeah, i used my same bracket, what do you mean thats interesting bill? they're a bolt on replacement! and yeah, isn't the difference great? starts faster, quicker throttle response, smoother idle, all around better running. Even my fuel economy went up slightly.

I think I know what Bill means.

Yes, they bolt on, but you do have to use the plate that the Delco coils screw down to, sandwitching the ICM. I guess it'* all a question of what constitutes a "bracket". What I'd call the "bracket" is the pad with three holes in it which you mount the whole assembly to. Yes, that can stay there, and it works fine. You do, however, want to use the mounting plate that goes beneath the ICM. You can ghetto-rig it, but why?

When I swapped my Mag for a Delco, the difference wasn't night and day. I suspect that if it is, you've had an old/weak/nearly-dead Magnavox on there. Then again... maybe my plug wires are the weak link.
