Faulty Windshield Washer Pump?
Hey,
Was on a long trip last night and discovered my windshield washers were not working. :(
So many bugs, had to pull over and clean manually... :(
It'* 2am now, and I've just finished 6hrs of driving.... not going to fool with it tonight.
Just wondering if anyone had any idea what to check for inorder to determine what'* broken.
PS-She is full of washer fluid

did you hear any pump noise? on my lumina the tube would always come off the part where it connected to the wiper nozzle, so i just put a ziptie around it to keep it tight. other than that, it could be many things, bad switch, fuse, clogged, etc...

I plan to check the fuse tomorrow.....
If it'* not the fuse.... Does anyone know if I can use an aftermarket pump or do I need a GM one?
Also any ideas on cost?

May not be the pump....
Hi there;
I came across your posted message and it reminded me of a problem I had last month. I tried to clean the windshield but only one of the sprayers actually worked. I removed the windshield wipers & unscrewed the grill right below the windshield so that I could get a closer look at the pump and discovered it wasn't the pump at all but this little, insignificant, $0.10 piece of plastic that sprays the windshiled washer fluiid!! I got a lift down to the local scrap yard, (as all the auto-supply stores did not carry this piece), and took the part from a junked Bonneville LE. I installed the piece in my car and PRESTO! Problem solved. The piece of plastic that i'm describing looks sort of like this.....
======= }This is the upper part that "sprays" the fluid
= }This is the undderside that "plugs" into the windshield fluid line
=
I hope this helps!!

Update....
It was the washer pump..... bought an aftermarket one for $39 bucks and replaced it in under 10mins.
Only thing I lost was about 2 litres of washerfluid..... hehe
My old pump was rusted and cracked in numerous places.
