Default Alternator from a 93 to a 91

I took off an alternator from a 93 and i kinda rigged it into a 91, the belt fits fine, but the car wont start, no battery power or anything. Are alternators interchangable from a 93 to a 91?

starting should have nothing to do with it...if your battery is good then it should still start...it just won't charge..

but if all the wires fit correctly...then there should be no problem, but i will check the part numbers...

ok checked...

they are different...

they are the same amps and such, but the mounting points should not even be close the the same place...im not even sure how you got it to fit!

My advice...dont risk damage to your electrical system, either go to a JY and get another one or go get and new or reman one! But as far as i know, it is not advisable to use electrical parts on vehicles they were not designed for, there could be different wiring that might cause a short

You can use electrical parts from a newer model like the Delco Ignition if someone spent the time and researched it.
But randomly slapping a newer alt in is a No No.

Just looked this one up on Acdelco.com and it appears the 91-93 use the same cs series alt. 90 and under is different.
