taking down the engine
 

Im going to remove the valvecover and change the gasket..

and when im already going to take down the engine is it anything more that can be good to change ?


Now im going to do some welding on the car, behind the radiator container
will bring some pic later in the week..

When you say taking down..do you mean taking out?

no, im only going to remove the valve cover,

But if something is good to change when im already playing with the engine im going to do it.

Have seen you guys talk about some sensors..
Have no idea where they are and what they do.. can anyone explain plz..

Think I`ll change to the newer Delco Ignition system if I can find one.

When you do the valve cover, check all your rockers for a proper torque. I've seen some that'll hold the factory torque and some that are loose as a goose with no valvetrain noise. So that'd me my suggestion. It's kinda hard to tell bc if the valve is open, the rocker is tight, so you have to roll the motor over to check, bc if the torque is still good leave it. It'll be easier to leave it than to remove, degrease, and torque to 13ft lbs [or, tighten until snug, keep going, you will feel you tightening to the point the valve opens, back off and stop once pressure is released from tightening. You will also want to put on a generous amount of blue loctite. This is very important they WILL come loose otherwise.. and it will be naughty if you let it go. The rocker w/o any cam on it [valve closed] will rock just a tad side to side, like free to roam, yet held close to your heart ya know? Also, clean your oil galleys... the two drain holes on either side of the head... and then drain the oil afterwards.
