are you sure? does the strut come with the coil plate and such?

They are welded to the strut... Its the spring seat.. A good shadetree or a good shop will be able to replace the sturts in a hurry... The problem tho is that the car will have to have an alignment once the struts are replaced or you will tear up the tires..

ok, do you think it is safe enough to drive on the freeway? It is about the only way to get to the repair shop...

If it were up to me... I wouldn't

In other words I strongly reccomend that you do not drive it

Looks like the coil spring plate rotted out and the weld failed.
Do not drive the car like this or you risk major suspesion failure.
You are going to need the entire strut assembly, not just the inserts.

Yes he needs to replace the actuall struts, the spring, strut mount and strut mount breaings along with the rubber spring isolator can stay if they are in good shape...

And I agree he will not be able to use an insert, he has to replace the strut...

well i went to a few different places to get a quote on it

Stealership: $240 parts & $240 labor = $480

Local Shop: $185 parts $220 labor = $405

FF Tire center: $360 parts & $210 labor = $570

problem is...i don't have $100 let alone $400+

I COULD buy the struts myself for like $60ish each and self labor it..BUT, i have no spring compressors....hmm...AND, i wouldn't know how to do it if the instructions hit me in the face....im in a bind...

and yes, don't kick me, i did drive 60 miles on it today..i know, i know...but what i don't know...IS WHAT im gonna do!!

AND

my laptop is down towards oshkosh, they want $40 and i don't have the money to get it NOR have any way to get there...and they said if i don't pick it up soon, they will keep it!!!

you can rent spring compressors i believe. maybe a member in your area has them.....

how long has the laptop been at the place its at?

the only 2 people i know if in my area-ish...are toddster and 2seater...there are probably more, but none that are really active members.

i will pm both of em and ask...but somehow i doubt...so now how do you suppose i fix this problem about not knowing HOW to change the struts...

and the laptop has been there for like a week or so...but at this rate, they will keep it...but i don't even have the money to pick the dang thing up!

You could pick the whole assembly with the spring up at the bone yard if you don't have the cash. No special tools needed, just bolt it up from the same car.
probably will need an alignment check.
