Strut Rubbing - TOTALLY FIXED - *Fixed Pics 2/28/08*

Ok, now i know I have started other threads for this, so admins..let me explain...

the more specific one is locked, and the rest i cannot find...

BUT
i found the problem, or the noise causer...

ok the lower coil spring plate on the right wheel is literally sitting on the tire tread...the coil is resting on it completely, so when the car hits a bump, the tire goes UP and the coil plate well it presses harder....I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!! I am not good with suspension stuffs...

i just found this....tomorrow i will remove the wheel and further investigate, but for now i need some preliminary advice...!!! can i drive the car with it doing this? i mean i know it is not a good idea

question......what size tires are you running?

wjcollier07 Apr 11, 2006 09:35 AM

S-T-O-C-K

I be runnin on dem hot 15" alloy laces wit som 205/70/15s sittin all up in der... never changed the tire size...the other side has 2 inches of clearance...i am now afraid to take the tire off cause if it drops more, i will not be able to get the tire back on, i am gonna take it back to dah place where they rotated the tires and tell em it made that sound ever since i left therr...we will see, but that is later today, let me know if they got any suggestions!

That spring seat has weakened seriously... Do not drive this car untill you replace the front struts... Keep in mind that the front struts for the 90 changed... So make sure you get them for an 89

Just a note...

I for the longest couldn't figgure out why they chengaed the design of the spring seat for the newer H bodies... This is the perfect example of why..

well that is basically the strut and the strut assembly...strut= not that expensive...strut assembly=$218...aww hell no...

banned3800 Apr 11, 2006 11:15 AM

You don't have to replace the entire assembly... The struts for your car should run $55-$60 each
