Need a Picture please!!
Ok guys, here is the thing, I was doing my rear brakes today, because they have never worked right, I can go backwards at 15 and hit the brakes...and well the front skids and the backs do nothing..... Actually the shoes are fine, but the wheel cyninders were bad...
anyways, so I was replacing them right? well something looks wrong, the way that the assembly is, it seem there might be a more obvious reason why they don't work.
SO, i need a pic of the rear brakes with the drum off. I am not sure if the mechanicals changed over time, but i am hoping for a pic of one in my gen. I know this might be a hassle, but my safety is sort of at stake here! I appreciate it!

they are have much more power then your rear breaks; which would explain why they lock up
when you do that.

thanks Ed, I knew that...i sorta meant that it feels like there is NOTHING back there....
and i know they do most of hte braking because i have been driving fora long time with almost no rear brakes, and that car slows PRETTY fast...so I know they do most the work...

Is this the brake set-up with the single return spring? You know, one long spring, connected to both shoes in a U fashion?
If so, When I can, i'll take some picts tommorrow when I have time..
BTW, the Haynes manual, while it is not very good, it still has good pictures of the brakes on our cars, you might give that a check?

Hmm, my LeSabre'* set-up is different. It only has the auto adjuster spring, and the single return spring, which looks like a giant U. I do believe several designs were in play for our cars. (like 3 maybe, or 4?)
