Strut bar from a '92?

Will a strut bar from a 1992 Bonneville SSEI fit in my 1990 LE? Will it do anything, or just be there?

yup it is a direct bolt on

It stiffens the front end for better handling.

My bar was 40 bucks from the wreckers. The frame feels stiffer, and it makes less creaky sounds when you turn or brake.

strut

Best performance handling mod I did for $10.
Just remember to remove the metal plate with two holes when you put it on.
Its a very tight fit with minimal hood clearance.

I did this to my '89 as well. The difference was very obvious. Potholes are now met with a solid thud, instead of creaks and twisting of metal.

As was mentioned, you should remove the metal part with two holes in it that is currently between the two strut studs. The STB will do the same thing, and needs all of the clearance you can get.

If you have the old style, non abs, brake fluid resivoir (the whole top is a black cap), then you might have a problem removing the cap with the bar in place. Mine is tight, but not too bad. That might depend on the car somewhat. Worst case scenario, you would just have to remove the bar from the end brackets to access the cap.

At any rate, I would highly recommend this cheap and easy mod.

$40? You got ripped, I paid $12 for mine.

It makes a difference. As far as I know, the metal plates are still there. It makes an imprint on the hoodliner, but eh, it's fully functional.

Looks like I'm off to the wreckers!!

I may not have a Strut Tower Bar, however I had a friend watch as I made a sharp turn at 50mph, and she said it looked like the car was about to fall apart, because it twisted so much. This is first on my list after the car is starting to be driven again.

lol, i ended up paying $8 for a non-power, fixed-mast '95 Grand Prix antenna, the bonus being that it's a *black* antenna 8)

To all of you non-STB folks. Doooo it. It's well worth it.
