Intake gasket?
On my car, something is leaking from what looks like the intake manifold, near the temperature sensor. Is this a serious problem?
This one seems to be less than the other:

Looks like your leaking some oil.. Hard to tell...
The Manifold is not sealed that great from the factory, could have been done a lot better... Not looking like a real problem as of yet..

Yep, she looks like she'* good to go. If it'* leaking oil in there, it'* probably blow-by related... and if it is, maybe some high mileage oil [valv max life IMO] may help swell that sucker up enough to hold together for another 50k run to a million.

Ha ha... His car has no miles on it... Just age.. Its at the age where it is due for intake gaskets... 18 Years is a long time..

Yep, just saw that, 60k... well shoot, he doesn't even meet the 75k category LOL. I'd still hit it with that max life... can't hurt, and IMO it'* my fav oil. I've ran it in the past 3 cars, and it'* stopped the majority of every leak [F-100 used 1qt / 2days, to 1qt every 3-4wks. Bonnie used well over 1qt/wk, to about the same, just didn't leave a puddle of oil anymore. Duster had a puddle under her pretty quickly too.. now it'* nothing. Been 500mi, used nothing on the stick and it'* cleaner than any other motor I've ever had [oil colour... engine is pretty clean too tho].
As far as intake gasket replacement.. mine first went with a bang... and everytime I floored the car she'd pour out coolant smoke... but daily driving used barely any coolant. Then I replaced the intake gaskets and sandblasted all intake parts... man did that make a difference. Get the Fel-pro intake kit... best damn thing ever. Don't skimp on the gaskets... I've been screwed too many times with cheap gaskets.

All I can say is that I have had to rip mine apart for head issues.... Got it all together and it ran good for a long time... Then it killed off a couple of lifters, so I went in and replaced them... It killed off a couple more( after the other 4 I replaced ) so I got pissed and went in again to go back to an AC Delco set... Now days I have found it has some balance shaft noise I don't care for... But it still runs, has great oil pressure so I keep on letting it go...lol
The first set of gaskets that came off the car were pretty decent too... The Fel Pros seem to hold up pretty good on the LN3'*

All better. Thanks again Don.
Also, I ran the car for a minute with the belt off, the whining noise on acceleration seemed to go away, so that is probably the power steering pump. Still that is meaningless compared to the lifters. I checked those as well, GM'* price on lifter is 47 each, available from various places online at 28-29.

No Problem Matt...
Matt was on the money.... It was a coolant leak at the corner of the gasket throttle body side rear facing... That was the worst side... The front had a little evidence of a small internal leak.... It was more than due for intake gasket replacement... Even with the low mileage the gaskets were deformed.. So they got the replacement treatment..
The inside of the motor is soo clean you could eat off of it

I think I have you beat on the leaky intake gasket. This was the condition of mine at 172k miles. If that wasn't bad enough I had a few sticky lifters. I had at least 3 lifters that would not pump up and were very noisy. I took every one of them completely apart and cleaned them. Very sludgy. Not fun. But the pay off was worth it. This thing has never run so good. I thought for sure it was ready for the boneyard. I think it will run forever now.
