TEVES manual rong ?
Have a car with the same TEVES ABS used by GM from 1987 to 1990 and optional on most Bonnevilles (standard on SSEi) of the period.
Had been chasing an occasional ABS warning light for about a year now. Just came on occasionally and could clear by cycling ignition so not to concerened but started becoming incessant.
Codes were 32, 36, and 76 all of which point to the Right (Passenger side) front wheel cyl. so had replaced the sensor once but recently set out to fix once and for all.
- replaced sensor again
- replaced ABS computer (not ECM, different box)
- replaced main relay
- found a bit of play in wheel bearing so replaced that (only expensive item, had rest in spares bin)
No change.
Verified sensor was RFWSS, verified wiring to ABS computer, made replacement harness wiring to computer. Same-Same. All worked as per manual. No surprises.
Finally went back to basics and after clearing the ABS codes, pulled the sensor connector by the wheel. Code 33 !?!?!? ccording to the book this is the right rear wheel sensor. Just for *&G found and disconnected LEFT front wheel sensor. Code 36 !!!!!
Cleaning and careful inspection revealed a crack/break in the LEFT sensor wire that was ok when stopped but stressed on turns. Replacing the sensor cleared the problem.
Important thing here is that 88,89,and 90 manuals & GM TEVES training guide as well as Ford Thunderbird and Autozone listings all had the same chart. 32, 36, and 76 were all shown as a problem with the RIGHT front sensor and the problem was in the LEFT.
Now, as mentioned I had already verified the wiring harness and ABS computer connections pin by pin and were as in the manual. The car is correct but the codes the computer is giving does not match the chart. Two different computers are doing the same thing. Good chance that all of the manuals are rong.
If possible could someone handy who has a car with TEVES ABS please see if they get the same results.
On a car with no codes, disconnect the right (passenger) side sensor (will be in the engine compartment near the wheel). Turn ignition on and should get an ABS fault. Read the code and let me know if it is a code 33 or a 32/36.
If endemic I wonder how many TEVES were junked because the code pointed to the rong wheel.

Pagett, would like to help you out but I have my ABS unhooked due to a cracked star wheel at the CVS joint. It kept pulsating and I didn't want to pull the shaft again.
